More Images from Kansai

Just thought I'd add a few more images from our recent visit from friends. Above is a tiny island off Awaji Island and a view of Kobe, towards Rokko Island from Mt. Maya.
To the right are a statue and a water faucet from a shrine on Mt Maya. The blurry photo below is inside a temple in Kyoto. Sorry its so blurry. If I knew how to take it off I would.
At least they're all right side up and not sideways!!!

Monkey Center

Here are a few images from the Monkey Center on Awaji Island. I thought we'd never make it there alive or that when we got there, they might have some baby dressed up in a monkey suit! But I was wrong. After a short walk uphill we came to where the monkeys hang out when they aren't in trees. It was really cool to see the monkeys interacting with one another. They seemed to be all ages and sizes. The mothers seemed to protect the babies. The younger ones seemed to enjoy playing and some of the older ones seemed to be grumpy. There were deer in the area also and they all seemed to get along. There was even a monkey cemetary. It was well worth the extreme effort to get there.

Company is here!

We have had visitors this week. I'm afraid we've forced them on too many adventures in such a short time, but I hope they look back and remeber only the fun times, not how tired, or hot, or hungry they were. We went to the Ninja city and to Nara one day. Then to Awaji Island where we took the treacherous driving course to the Monkey Center among other things. We've been to Kobe, Himeji, Kyoto and up,over and across mounts Maya and Rokko. We'll be sad to see them go. Here are a few shots of some things we did.

Gil's Birthday

Well, I've had some computer trouble but think we're back on track now! I had wanted to put up some photos of Gil's 4th birthday. He got a raincoat, a squeaky penguin and some corn and our house guest brought him a new collar, and 2 types of treats. He really made out. Its a little late, but here are a few photos. Enjoy!
