Blizzard?

Well the media certainly hyped this super snow storm as the worst winter storm in history. Luckily for us, they were wrong. Those feet of snow we were predicted to get, turned into 2 inches on top of the estimated 3 inches from the Sunday night snow. I hesitated to mock, after what happened with Sandy, so this time around I took it seriously and gathered my flashlights and candles and filled the bathtub with water so I could flush during my 3 or so days, stranded with no electricity. As you can see by the photos, it was nothing more than an ordinary bit of snow, already shoveled and beginning to melt.

Bread

While waiting for the snow, I decided to make some whole wheat bread from scratch to go with some soup that I had made. It turned out quite nice. I baked it in this big iron skillet. The thin crust has a nice crunch to it and the inside is soft. It kind of has a corn bready taste that reminds me of ma-maw. Maybe its just the iron skillet taste. Anyway, its good and goes well with the red lentil soup.

Newest Movie Trailer

I think I may have gotten the newest movie trailer put on here.

Winter Storm

Got a bit of snow on Saturday. The first significant snowfall of the season. Snowed another couple of inches again overnight last night (Sunday). Have shoveled it all out and now waiting for the next wave of snow. According to the meteorologists it will start here at 2pm and continue through the night. At least at our new place the electric lines are underground, so maybe the electricity won't go off in heavy snow like it did in Peapack.

Sleeping Cap

Made this new sleeping cap for hubby. He wanted something to come down over his neck this time, so after a bit of online research, I went this design. Apparently I now need to fashion some sort of neck string to hold it on at night.

Movies we saw

We've seen quite a few movies since Christmas while the kids were here. Dead Fall, Safe House, Village of the Damned, Children of the Damned, 22 Jump Street, Lone Survivor, The Lego Movie, Skeleton Twins, Horrible Bosses 2, Birdman, St Vincent, American Sniper, Theory of Everything, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Imitation Game, Selma & Whiplash. I've seen all but 1 of the Oscar nominees, that being Boyhood. My pick for best picture is Birdman with Whiplash a really close second. If either one of them win Best Picture, I'll be happy. The Imitation Game and Theory of Everything are also really good with great acting. Selma and American Sniper are watchable but not worthy of an award in my opinion. I saw Grand Budapest Hotel some time ago and didn't really care for it. So there you have my picks for the Oscar for Best Picture.

Trailer for Mother's Little Darling

I was trying to figure out how to put the trailer to my latest movie on here, but failed. I did accidentally put the trailer to the previous movie on, so let's see how it works.

Chair Project

Yesterday, I finally completed my chair project. I forgot to take a photo before starting, otherwise you could've seen the transformation. The original seat cushion/padding is shown in the first photo on the floor. I think it turned out pretty well and cost a total of $2.96.
