70?

Yowza! It has been fantastic weather, last weekend into this week. Temps in the upper 60's and even low 70's in NJ, in mid-February! I won't complain.

Valentine Flowers

Hubby brought me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers yesterday. So big, I had to split it up into 2 vases.
He's the best!

Sewing Machine Project

For Christmas, my sis gave me a sewing machine. I took a 2 day sewing course to learn how to use it. We had to bring a pattern for our first project, so I chose a dog coat pattern. As you can see in the following pics, the pattern was horrible. Whoever made it, obviously didn't have a dog. The hood was big enough to fit my head, the front was very voluminous, as was the body. How is that supposed to keep a dog warm and dry?
So, instead of throwing it away, I made some changes.

Below is the new version. The hood was replaced with a little collar. I cut down the front and added two hooks and put a couple of seams in the body for a tighter fit. I think he might actually wear it now.

Snow Model

Cute Boy played in the snow on Friday.

Trip to the City

Took a trip into the city to see the boy, yesterday. Stopped by a campus art gallery to take in the exhibit. Exhibits like this confirm to me that maybe my paintings aren't so bad after all. It seems like anybody can do anything and it can be hung in a gallery.

The piece to the left is a collage.

Below are 2 oil paintings.

To the left is a piece done in crayons and the other is paint of some sort .

From there we went to McSorley's Old Ale House, NYC's oldest continuously operated saloon. Abe Lincoln and John Lennon have been there. After a battle in the Supreme Court, women were finally allowed access in 1970! Unfortunately it was so crowded it wasn't particularly enjoyable. We'll be back though.

Walking through Union Square we happened onto 2 protests.

The protest under the arch, was an anti gun rally that featured a short play, that was reminiscent of something from Shakespeare's day. Quite good actually.

Snow Day

Looks like they got it right! After a sunny 64 degree day yesterday, I woke up to this.
Looks like about 5 or 6 inches. I've shoveled the driveway, now sitting with my little warm biscuit, Gil, having a nice cup of herbal tea. Looking forward to a quiet day in.

Weather

Today it was sunny and 64 degrees F. Tomorrow we are supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow.    I guess we'll see!

MANA CONTEMPORARY

Took a trip with my women's group today, to Mana Contemporary art space. Part gallery, part artist studios, part conservatory. Its housed in old tobacco factory.  We had a guided tour which included an Andy Warhol silk screen gallery,
a contemporary collage artist and an artist who showed us how he does silk screen prints. It was a nice day out.

I don't know how he did it, but I got the most beautiful flowers from my dad today!

Thank you so much to the special person who made it possible.
Whoever you are, I love you!
