Kiln Trip

After pottery class on Saturday, I went to Sassayama, where my teacher has his wood fired kiln. On the way there, we stopped at a wood shop because one of the crew is thinking of making a table. Cherry trees surrounded the area. The cute, little, old shop owner's wife, was cooking japanese curry over an open fire. Next to the kiln is a shrine. Down the road there were some rice fields. It was a nice day out in the countryside.

KWC trip to Kyoto

KWC's cherry blossom viewing trip to Kyoto was yesterday. We had gorgeous weather and a great day out with friends. We started out at Haradanien, then had lunch and went to Ninnaji temple, after which, we walked through Arashiyama on our way back to the train.

Hanami & Inoshishi

Yesterday the hubby and I walked into Sannomiya. It took about 1.5 hrs. Along the way we saw some beautiful cherry trees. And some hanami parties. We were crossing the street at the Shinkansen station when out ran this pig!! There was a policeman chasing him away with a stick, but we weren't quick enough to get his picture too!

Valentine

Valentine has been staying with us while her mom & dad are on holiday. We took her and Gil to the cherry trees at the shrine to take their photos. There wasn't much cooperation.

Cherry Blossoms

Its cherry blossom time in Japan again. They really are pretty. Hopefully it will warm up next week so we can have our hanami.

Birthday

The lad turned 16 yesterday! Went to USJ and out to dinner. Then had a small party with games, presents and cake. He blew out all the candles, so chances are good that he'll get his wish.

April Fool's Day

Tiny dinner for April Fool's day. Ha Ha Ha!!!

College Trip

Took the girl back to the US to decide on a college. Unfortunately, no clear winner emerged. I think it only made the process of deciding a little bit harder. We had to go coach the whole way (ugh!!) and couldn't even get into the lounge!! But we toughed it out and made it okay. While in Chicago we made it over to the American Girl store and reminisced about the old days. Got to visit with some family and friends too. Now just trying to get over the jet lag.
And all is well in Kobe. Some of the evacuees have been sent to shelters in our area and lots of money has been raised locally to benefit the victims of the disaster. We are not concerned about radiation this far away and the store shelves here are fully stocked.
