Kimono

Went to a kimono wearing workshop with some ladies from KWC. Had a really great time and learned all about wearing kimono. The process of getting into it is quite involved and only a very seasoned Japanese lady can ever get into one all by herself. After getting into the underwear and kimono and obi and all the acoutrement, we went to lunch at a nearby restaurant. Here are some photos for your enjoyment. Naturally, they are in reverse order.

eggs

I found these cute boiled egg shapers at the hyaku en shop. You boil eggs, then peel while still warm and put into the shaper. They come out really cute, as evidenced in the photos.

Gil & Valentine

Just a few photos of Gil with his new best friend Valentine. She stayed with us while her mom & dad took a trip.

Happy New Year!

Well, its pretty obvious I've been lax in my duties to the blog. Nothing posted since Christmas!!!!!! I do have a few things to post, so I'll get right to it.Here are a few photos from New Year's day. We went to several area shrines. Got the arrow with the goodluck charm on it. Had some new year's sake(note the guy at the sake barrel giving the peace sign!). The biggest shrine (Ikuta shrine in Sannomiya) had more of a carnival atmosphere with various charms for sale as well Japanese carnival-type food, such as the fish on a stick, pictured here. Its quite a day out!
