past snow pics and Oscar night

When I plugged the camera in to get the Oscar night photos, I saw these from our last snowy day. The back yard really looked pretty.
The boy made his triumphant return from the Philadelphia Model United Nations conference on Sunday afternoon. He didn't win any awards but got all his resolutions passed and had a fun time while there. And I'm so happy to be back in the land of Oscar, I had a little party yesterday. Not as fun as the ones we used to have back in Indy, since we didn't have any guests. But it was a good review for next year! We had a dish for each nominated movie, the official ballot to fill out and an Oscar bingo game. The boy was the big winner in bingo and walked off with a cash prize of $4.00!!!

Lyme Disease

Took the little Beauty to the vet to get his rabies shot, so he could get licensed. Asked about the lyme disease vaccine so he got tested for lyme and heart worm, prior to getting the shot. Well its seems he was positive for anaplasma, a tick borne disease. He's on a month of antibiotics and should have a complete recovery. (fingers crossed) He didn't show any symptoms so hopefully we caught it early.

Beets! Who knew?

Had a roasted beet salad at a restaurant the other day and liked it, so I decided to get some beets at the grocery and try making them for myself. I roasted them, chopped up the greens and cooked those with some onion and garlic. Whipped up a little balsamic vinegar sauce, topped it with feta cheese and voila!
Who knew that beets could actually be delicious!

Vassar

Drove up to Vassar over the President's Day holiday, just to check it out, as the counselor had it on the boy's list of possible schools. He did not like it one bit. Took Gil along for the ride. He didn't mind it.

New Haircut

Got a new haircut. I like it.

Valentines Day

Valentines Day has come and gone. I sent the girl a valentine surprise with her b-day present and got each of the boys a surprise. Also made the tuna patties in the shape of hearts for dinner. What did I get for Valentines Day? nothing

Hiking Group

I think we've been really lucky with the weather this winter. The hiking group has only missed one day and that was due to rain. Here are some photos from of our recent hikes. New Jersey really is beautiful!

Snow!!

I had some trouble getting photos onto my new computer and thus let the blog slide for awhile. I think I've got it figured out and am now trying to catch up. Some weeks ago we finally had some snow. Gil loved it. It took him awhile to remember about snow and how much he used to love it. Once he finally remembered he ran around like a crazy man, having so much fun. The other photo is from when he and I went for a walk on one of our numerous, nearly 50 degrees F, days!!If all New Jersey winters are like this one, I won't complain a bit!

NYU

Took the boy into the City to check out NYU. He didn't especially like the "no campus" aspect of it. But it was a lovely day for an adventure and we had a nice lunch. For some reason I can't get the photos on the new computer.
