New Suit

The lad has a competition coming up and he will need to wear a suit. We got his suit out to try on and it fit every where but in the sleeves. Somehow, in the months since he last wore the suit, his arms have grown in length by about 2 inches. The rest of him is the same. Is he perhaps, part sasquatch? We don't know.
At any rate, the sleeves could not be altered enough, so we got him a new suit (pictured here). I'm thinking of cutting the sleeves on the old one to make a short sleeved suit for the warmer months. I think it'll be a big hit. (you heard it here first)

College Girl Returns

Picked the college girl up at the airport last night. Went out to dinner, then brought her home to get reacquainted with the house she only spent a few nights in, back in August. Its good to have her back with us. Gil was very glad to see her again, but luckily NOT so excited that he peed on her.

Visitors

We had visitors this week and what a fun time we had!! It was great just being together again but we also engaged in various cultural and historical activities in NYC, Princeton and Washington's Crossing. Shopping was also a highlight as well as eating at various types of eateries in the area. On their final night here we had a neighborhood party where we all got to meet the nice neighbors that live around us. Soon we will take them to the airport. We'll miss them and can't wait to see them again.

Gil's Accident

Gil had a little accident last week. He jetted out the back door after a squirrel (as per usual). I have warned him on numerous occasions of the dangers of this practice but he has not heeded my advice. Well, on this particular day he leaped across the stream at top speed but misjudged his landing!! Instead of landing on his feet on the other side, he hit his belly area on the edge of the rocks, cutting and scraping his belly and penis!! I thought he had broken a leg until I lifted him up and saw the blood. Here are a couple pics of the injury site. He's okay now. After an expensive trip to the vet it was determined that nothing was broken and there were no internal injuries. He has some pills for pain and inflammation and is getting back to normal. As of of yet, he has not raced out and crossed the stream like he used to do. He has been taking the bridge!

Thanksgiving Trip

Went to see family and friends for Thanksgiving. It was a long drive but well worth it. We got to see the girl for the first time since she went to college. We had a nice meal, did some shooting, got some driving practice for the kids and even won a couple of dollars on a scratch off lottery ticket! Back home now for some much needed rest before getting back to the usual work week!

Bonfire

Hubbby and I finally burnt all the branches and sticks that came down during the hurricane Irene storm and the snow storm from last month. It was a lovely evening. Wished we'd had some good friends here to enjoy it with!

Greenwich Village Food Tour

Took a fantastic food and culture tour of Greenwich Village with some new friends. Joe's pizza, the "best pizza by the slice in NYC", was good. I had 1 1/2 slices before moving on to O & Co., an olive oil and gourmet shop. We tried some bread with a fantastic basil olive oil on it and some with a chocolate spread. (I bought some of the oil...it was that good!). After, went to a restaurant where we were served mac-n-cheese, not a dish that I normally like, but the top crust of cheese was fabulous. After this we stopped in a basement speakeasy for a chat and to get out of the rain. Next we went into a place where we sat at the bar, had a drink and a plate of 4 appetizers. After that we went to a shop that served us a big, warm delicious chocolate chip cookie. People who thought they were full, (like me) still managed to eat it. We went to an off broadway theater for another chat. We went to a deli where we had a very tasty rice ball (my favorite food on the trip), then went to a cheese shop where we tried 4 cheeses and olives. I thought we were done, but found out we had one more stop at a bakery where we sampled a canoli. A really great trip filled with lots of good food and fascinating info about the area.

Birthday Hike

Went hiking on Hubby's birthday. It was a beautiful fall day. As a present, the boy stood in a hole so his dad could look taller in the photo. We're pretty sure this is a "Bigfoot" footprint. And the excrement is most like from a "Bigfoot" too.

Fashions and Disasters

Well life certainly does give us some surprises, doesn't it?
Just when you think you might be getting a handle on it, something happens to let you know you're not.
For instance, the lovely pair of slippers in the first photo. The one on the right (with the pom-pom), I made first and thought this was a project that was really going to be a success. Notice the 2nd slipper!! Obviously, the success was short lived. Today, I went to the Trump National Golf Club for a fundraiser for school. I was a little nervous because the dress code was casual chic and as you may (or may not ) know, I've got plenty of casual. Its the chic I don't know much about. But it seemed to go well. I got home in time for the propane safety check and it seemed like it was shaping up to be an awesome day for me. But then I hopped in the car to pick the boy up from school and ran over a huge rock at the foot of the driveway. Well, there was a horrible sound as I tried to drive. I got out and looked at the tires a few times and finally called the boy to say he would have to walk home, as I was unable to drive the car. I managed to get it back home and finally concluded that I had not ripped the axle loose, but rather ripped one of the running boards loose and it was jammed against the back tire, which was causing the horrible sound. Wonderful hubby worked on it after he got home and got the running board off, so now, at least I can drive. Now I'm just going to sit in front of the tv with an ice cold beer and try not to do anything that could go wrong.

Bonnie & Clyde/Central Park

Yesterday we went to NYC in hopes of getting rush tickets to the new musical Bonnie & Clyde. Luckily, we got them but had 4 hours to wait between getting the tickets and the start of the show. We went to a couple of guitar shops where the boy tried out a flying V and a double necked guitar. Then we walked to Central Park and explored there. The skating rink is up and you can kind of see it in the 1st photo. Afterwards we had lunch at Patsy's (excellent) and worked our way back to the theater district. The line for B&C was long. I think it was sold out! It was only the 2nd performance. The official opening of the show is in early Dec. I really liked the show. I thought it was fantastic. The actors were all so good and the songs were good too. I' glad we were able to go. (note the new haircut and color)

What Next????

This afternoon, Gil and I started out down the street for our afternoon walk. The day was bright and sunny, you barely needed a jacket.......I let him go naked, it was so nice. We got past about 2 houses when I noticed a truck pulled over to the side of the road and weird swirls of smoke coming from above. Upon closer inspection I could see that an over-head wire was on fire. The lady in the truck was on the phone and shortly the police came and blocked the road. A couple hours later, the police were gone but left this roadblock up. We still have power and there does not appear to be any work being done on the area of the fire. Hubby is trying to get home now. Every road is blocked!! He even drove 20 min. to another town to come down a road, but it too is closed. It almost feels like we're in some sort of a horror movie. Hub's on his way back to town and will park in the street and try to walk home. How will we get out tomorrow, if the boy has school? He's been out for 2 days because the electricity was off at school. I have a hair appointment tomorrow that I desperately need to get to. Aaaahhhhhh!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!! The boy and I dressed up as zombies to hand out candy. First we had supper then set up outside to wait for trick-or-treaters. Gil put his penguin costume and we were ready for action. So far we've had 5 kids!! Looks like we're going to be have some left over candy after all!!
