Space Farms and Zoo

Took advantage of the beautiful day Sunday to do something outdoors. After checking out my NJ guide book, we drove for an hour into the middle of nowhere, to find this 100-acre museum and zoo. It turned out to be really cool. They had the oddest assortment of collectibles from all sorts of antique vehicles to a miniature circus, tons of dolls and toys and even some of the quirky things shown here like the pickled deer embryo and ash trays made from animal feet. I thought the zoo part might be a bit sad, but the animals seemed so well cared for that I wasn't so upset when some of the enclosures seemed a tad small or unnatural. We had a great day out.

Viper's Den

Beautiful weather last week. Spent lots of time outdoors. Unfortunately discovered two more snakes on the property. One enormous beige one near the driveway and a smaller babyish sized one under a rock by the stream. That's THREE I've seen so far and each one different from the others. AAAHHHH! I'm living in a den of vipers!!!

Big News for the Boy

Big News for the Boy!
He took the written test for his driving permit
on Saturday and he passed! Look out people, he's on the road!
And just tonight he had a job interview and....he got the job!
Things are really looking good for him right now.
Maybe I should have him pick some lottery numbers!

Easter

The Easter bunny came yesterday and left a basket of goodies. The boy and I (and the girl through Skype) colored eggs on Saturday, so we had a little Easter egg hunt. I hid the eggs and the boy and Gil had to find them. Gil loved the hunt, but wasn't terribly good at it. His brother had to point out most of them. After our nice Easter brunch we went for a hike, to walk off all the extra calories.

Venice

Hubby snapped a few pics with his phone while in Italy a couple weeks ago. Wish I'd been there too!

Trip to Brooklyn

Went to NYC yesterday to explore. Went in around World Trade Center area and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Explored the Dumbo area, Brooklyn Heights and the DeKalb Market. Then walked back across the Manhattan Bridge into China Town. Had lunch in Little Italy and headed home. It was a beautiful day for exploring!

Our little park

Took some photos while Gil and I were out for a walk this past week. These pics are from the little park in our town. Quite pretty. And Gil loves to look at the swans.

Birthday Boy

The boy had a birthday yesterday. My how time flies! I had a birthday gift treasure hunt, set up for him. He had to follow the clues to get all his gifts. They were mostly guitar related. Gil wanted to help open the gifts of course. His dad decorated the top of the ice cream cake. Afterwards, he put on a little concert for us.

Ikebana

Tried my hand at some ikebana. The branches aren't really branches, but I think they both turned out okay.
