New Statues

Our park across the street got some new statues yesterday and the whole process made for a nice show.

Not sure who decided that this would be the best day for installation, but before they could be unloaded, several guys spent quite some time chipping away at the ice and snow.

While watching the proceedings, I decided the suave guy in the turtleneck, scarf and top coat, eating a bag of chips and standing around doing nothing but watching, was the artist.

The first statue going towards its icy spot.

Guy who I thought was the artist, standing around after getting his picture taken with the first statue.

Second statue getting pushed to its spot.

Third statue getting unloaded.

The suave guy high-tailed it away as soon as number three got put into place and he had his picture taken with it. So, I decided he was not the artist but rather the cultural attache.
The real artist is probably Bob, the guy in the white toboggan.

Bob and the other guys put finishing touches on statue placement.

And finally the placement is complete.

City Kids on a Snow Day

City kids like to race down snowy hills on a sled just any other kid.

These kids made a hill out of the steps and had a great 2 days sledding!

Winter Storm Update

Got up this morning to a cold and snowy day, but it was not nearly as snowy as we were led to believe it would be.

By noon the streets were pretty well cleared and traffic flowed freely.
Kids have been out in the park all day playing in the snow.

The Storm Begins

The winter storm has begun. The streets are covered in snow. The busses have chains on the tires. It is obvious that many people driving cars in NYC are terrible drivers, but they are even worse in the snow!
We'll see how things look in the morning.
Glad I don't have to shovel it!

Some Things I've Been Getting Up To

Just a few things I've been up to lately.

Last week I took an online workshop through the library called 'watercolor book cover'. The inspiration was this cover of Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.

Below are the 2 that I made during the hour long workshop.

I got a puzzle from The Goodwill for $1.99 and after a couple of weeks, I put in the last piece.

Took a little walk around town with hubby and son last weekend when the weather was warm and sunny.
In the Meat Packing District, saw G E Smith doing a photo shoot. Youngsters who don't know, G E was the leader of the band on Saturday Night Live, back in the day.

Got my hair cut and colored this week.

My Little Tree and a Walk About

I got a little tabletop tree and made a few decorations.

I've also made my wrapping paper using the paper from when we bought wine and they wrapped each bottle in several big sheets. I hated to waste it.

Macy's windows are games. These people were having some fun with them!

The afternoon sun came out on a walk through Central Park.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. We did not reserve a spot, since it was in the afternoon
and we had an excellent view of it all lit up.
