Sick Gil

Had to take Gil to the dr. early Friday morning. He had been having trouble breathing. Have been to the vet twice this weekend and still not exactly sure what is going on. Either his trachea or esophogas was inflammed or infected or both, which may or may not be caused by a tumor. They took an xray to determine this. They gave him 3 shots and 3 types of pills(antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and anti-cough) to take twice a day for 9 days. He seems to be getting better slowly. His energy is coming back and he isn't gasping for breath quite as often. As a side note, the young dr. thinks there is something (probably unrelated) wrong with his heart. It didn't sound right to her. We'll worry about that later (if its anything to worry about).

Typhoon has passed

The typhoon raged through the night with howling winds and rain, but it wasn't much more than a very bad storm. The electricity went out a couple of times, but came back on fairly quickly. When we got up there were limbs and small trees lying around and leaves covered every surface, but the sun came out about 1pm and the day was quite nice. It was pleasant working outside doing all the clean up. Too bad they gave the kids the day off! What were they thinking?

Typhoon on its way

Well, we've battened down the hatches and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first typhoon, since moving to Japan. It has been raining lightly for 2 days and the typhoon is predicted to hit our area sometime tonight. School and other activities have already been cancelled for tomorrow. Of course the kids are excited about that! Gil seems very nervous. I think he senses the storm coming and has not left my side all day. Check back tomorrow to find out if we survived!
