Art Fair

Went to the Bucktown Art Fair this afternoon. It was 91 degrees out! Hot! Stopped into this shop to cool off on our way to the train. It had all manner of curiosities!

Mom Kentucky

I think today is the date of my great grandma’s birthday.
She was a nice lady who always seemed jolly, to me anyway. She liked a home made pizza and a weeny roast.
I wish I’d have asked her more about her life while she was alive. She passed away just after we moved to Chicago the first time, which must have been 1986-ish?

The birthday begins

What a wonderful weekend! Our good friends came to visit (first time I’ve seen them in person in over 5 years!).
We had a fantastic time catching up.
Afterwards, saw the blue angels performing for the Air and Water Show, followed by a concert.
Our friends even brought cake and it’s not even my birthday yet!

Sunny Days

I had to do an extra volunteer day at the Institute on Saturday. Hubby met me at the end of my shift and we took a little walk, passing by the bridge museum. It was free so we went in. The museum is nothing to write home about but the views from the highest level were quite nice. After that we had a very nice dinner. Photos are of the polenta with shrooms and the shroom ravioli. Both were excellent!
Train ride was on some happy birthday/ anniversary train with decorations and pretty lights. The next day there was a free blues concert in our neighborhood featuring Dave Specter. They were pretty good!
