Rainy day until about 3:30. First stop the Chicago Cultural Center. Interesting art and history exhibitions but the star of the show is the building itself. Afterwards walked up Michigan Ave, trying to dodge the rain. Went to Macy’s which is in the old Marshal Fields building. Caught the bus up to visit the girl at her place.
Day 2 in Chicago started out cloudy but then got sunny. Went to Hyde Park with the girl where we walked around the old neighborhood, went to the 57th St Art Fair and took a picnic lunch to the point. A great day!
Day 1 in Chicago: I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo saw some cool animals including the new baby lion. Alas I wasn’t able to get a pic of him but he was really cute. Later I walked over to the lake. And after hubby finished work we went to Buddy Guy’s. They had 2 excellent bands and a special surprise, Buddy happened to be there and did a song with the second band. A most excellent night of blues and R&B!
Spent the last day of fleet week taking a tour of two ships. The Bataan, an American Navy Ship and The HMS Protector, a British ice ship. Interesting day. The weekend was also Manhattanhenge, the perfect alignment of the setting Sun. ( pics are all out of order)
