Mag Mile Festival

After we found our check in and staging areas for next week’s parade, we headed towards Michigan Ave for the Festival of Lights. There we found free cheesecake, free donut holes and coffee and kefir. We also found the staging area for the parade they would have, after we had gone back to the south side.

Update

Update to the holiday train story from earlier. We got off at our stop and as we were walking to the exit the decorated train went past. Here it is from the outside.

Holiday Train

We hopped on a train, headed to down town so we could recon our parade locations ahead of next Thursday. And what a nice surprise! The train was decorated for the holidays with lights, window clings, fake snow and more.
I could hardly wait till it was time to go back home to see how it looked at night.
To my great disappointment, the train we took was not decorated.😞

Parade School

We’ve volunteered to work at the Thanksgiving Parade.

This morning we went to Parade School. We’re going to be banner carriers.

You can watch the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade on Pluto, streaming for free, apparently.

Picasso

Went to the new Picasso exhibition at the AIC. It was different.

I didn’t  even realize he did work in wood cuts, linoleum and crayon. Interesting.

Pie Baking Contest

Our neighborhood had a pie baking contest for charity. After the judging was over, the public was invited in to buy some slices.  We honed in on the pecan pies, each getting a slice from a different pie. The guy boxing them up mangled them quite a bit but still yummy!

AIC

Went to the Art Institute on a sunny but chilly day. Went into the Native American section for some inspiration.
