Another Weekend/Another Festival
Yesterday we went to Wicker Park for their annual festival. It was busy, lots of people, lots of stalls, three stages. After awhile we popped into a bar for a drink and bathroom and lo and behold it happened to be a piano bar, just like one of our old favorites in NYC! We met some nice folks, then left in search of a spot for supper. Found this nice new place called Tama where we shared 4 delicious dishes: crab tostada, pita with 3 dips, oyster mushrooms and veg empanadas.

New Project
Found this old quilt while rooting around some boxes in the basement. I used it as a kid. I remember having doll clothes from the same blue fabrics. Sadly, the doll clothes are gone but I’m trying to resurrect the quilt. You can see it’s in bad shape. It’s not a project I’m in a hurry to finish and only time will tell if I am actually able to make it useable again. I’ll give updates on my progress periodically.

Saturday Activity
Went downtown Saturday. The Newberry Library was having an open house/summer festival. We saw the Last Night at Mr Kelly’s exhibit. There was a room with items from their collection that are rarely seen. We went on a tour and learned a little about their conservation of books.
Leaving there, we stopped in the park across the street for a concert with The Windy City Winds. Enroute to find some supper, we happened on to a River North street festival. Finally made our way to a place for supper where we had a wine flight and party tray (which they call Chef’s Whim). A nice day out.

Saturday continued
Saturday
Took a bus then a train up to Lincoln Square neighborhood for their Square Roots Festival. It was a nice day out, very good festival, quality entertainment.
After we left we had dinner at a nearby restaurant which was very tasty.
